Nurses and Nurse Practitioner

blood_testWe have four practice Nurses and an Healthcare Assistant.. Usually patients are seen by appointment.  In addition to the special clinics already listed, they carry out a range of procedures including dressings, ear syringes, blood tests, ECGs, removal of stitches and cervical smears.

We also have a Nurse Practitioner who is able to see and prescribe for a broad range of recent onset, minor illness ranging from earache and rashes through to chest infections and back strains. Our receptionists will be happy to provide a more comprehensive list of the service provided.

Nurse Practitioner Clinics

The Nurse Practitioner is independent of the GPs and trained to both diagnose and treat, with prescriptions if necessary. If she feels that an individual case needs the specific skills of a Doctor then she will pass the case to the appropriate GP. The Nurse Practitioner is able to prescribe within wide but defined limits and surgeries available every day at Mitchell Road and Monday afternoon at the Neighbourhood Centre.

This service will improve the ability of Patients to see the Health Professional of their choice at the earliest possible opportunity.
